Welcome to Tuscany

Italy's heart and soul has long been the region of Tuscany. Once a collection of  walled citadels, Firenze (better known to English-speakers as Florence), Pisa, Lucca, Siena and others were once independent city-states, warring frequently with each other. Finally united in a negotiated peace by Lorenzo il Magnifico di Medici, they became known as Tuscany.
